Color takes center stage in this series of paintings, while other elements such as line, shape, and movement recede to supporting roles. The burden of conveying the essential character of place, object, or mood falls almost exclusively on the palette choices.
For many of these pieces, plein air studies provided the underlying inspiration; others are simply an exploration of the expressive power of color.
